Marine Industrial Lighting Systems Ltd., MILS, a 100% Newfoundland owned and operated, designer and manufacturer of innovative lighting products has reached an agreement with the US Navy’s Military Sealift Command to supply innovative, explosion proof LED conversion kits to the US Navy’s T-AKE class vessels.

As part of Military Sealift Command (MSC), the T-AKE's primary mission is to deliver ammunition, provisions, stores, spare parts, potable water and petroleum products to carrier battle groups and other naval forces, serving as a shuttle ship or station ship.

The contract will be to supply and install approximately 15,000 new explosion proof LED light fixture kits for 14 of the large vessels. The value of the agreement will exceed $4 million and commence in the second quarter of 2018 and run into 2021.

This announcement follows the supply of the majority of lighting for the new Coast Guard newbuilding, Offshore Fisheries Science Vessels at Seaspan in Vancouver, and the recent installation of new Naval LED lighting for the Canadian Patrol Frigates under the Build in Canada Innovation program.
