Imhotep’s Legacy Academy (ILA), Business is Jammin’, GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc. (GTI), and Ocean Technology Council of Nova Scotia (OTCNS) are partnering to establish the ILA-Ocean Technology Scholarship for African Nova Scotian students in grades 11 and 12. This scholarship will grant eligible students up to $7000 CAD per semester for 4 years of undergraduate studies, and a guaranteed paid co-op placement with GeoSpectrum Technologies.

This scholarship was created in response to the financial barriers faced by African Nova Scotians attending post-secondary education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). This scholarship aims to motivate African Nova Scotian learners in ocean technologies and science. African Nova Scotian students that are interested in ocean technology or science careers and plan to enter post-secondary STEM education will be able to further their education. Furthermore, the scholarship will be awarded to students that demonstrate financial need and wish to pursue Ocean related STEM programs in university or college.
