About the role
The successful candidate will be called to work at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Stadacona, in Halifax, once the necessary security clearances have been granted by the Government of Canada.
Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) is Canada's most successful Combat System Integrator (CSI) specializing in large, sophisticated integration projects. We take advantage of advanced engineering practices and modern technologies to design, develop and integrate combat systems for naval warships.
The candidate will be involved in the in the Halifax Class Frigate Combat System In-Service Support (ISS) Program, including the Land Based Test Site (LBTS) at CFB Stadacona in Halifax, Nova Scotia and may also support tasks onboard Halifax Class Frigates within HMC Dockyards as required.
The candidate will be involved in including material management for ships, LBTS and Training Facilities.
The candidate will function in a multi-disciplined team environment, participate in the installation and maintenance of the Halifax class common shipboard equipment, and participate in all appropriate engineering activities including but not limited to:
- Identifying vendors
- Obtaining quotes
- Tracking and storage of material
- Working with our customer within their material management system
- Recording and tracking issues (equipment failure trends, etc.) that may affect operational performance and efficiency
- Assisting members of the engineering staff in maintaining detailed configuration documentation applicable to equipment.
- Assisting in the procurement and delivery of new equipment configurations
- Provide support for life cycle initiatives.
What you bring to the role
- Completion of a diploma in Material Management or equivalent experience
- 5 + years of experience working in a related field
- Experience in handling technical aspects of material transportation
- Ability to solve challenging problems
- Works well individually or in a team environment
- Must be willing to support remote customer site
- Must be willing to travel
- Able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel
Additional skills desired for the role
- Knowledge of the Defense Resource Management Information System (DRMIS)
- Knowledge of Naval Combat Management Systems
- Knowledge of import and export regulations
- WHMIS training
