Position Overview
The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to schedule and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. The Project Manager must have leadership, communication, and collaboration skills necessary to build and lead project teams. S/he must demonstrate effective use of negotiation, analysis, and decision-making as methods to balance project demands and keep projects on task.
Responsibilities
Management of environmental projects involving baseline acoustic studies, acoustic modeling, environmental impact assessment, mitigation plan development, and/or acoustic monitoring programs;
Proactively managing changes in project scope, identifying potential crises, and devising contingency plans;
Managing client relationships in the delivery of projects, enhancing these relationships, and seeking opportunities for increased client value;
Working with Management and our Science Leads to develop and secure new business opportunities;
Lead proposal efforts including project scoping and level of effort assessments;
Provision of direction and instruction to project team members including project engineers, scientists, technologists and other technical support staff;
Lead multiple concurrent projects and proactively track and report on their progress;
Track project issues risks and facilitate their resolution, including scope change, resource change, timeline, and any other major issues which may need to be escalated;
Contribution to technical and professional leadership within the firm.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Certified Project Management Professional or equivalent;
Six years' experience in environmental consulting, two at the project management level;
Familiarity with issues related to anthropogenic noise and its effects on marine life;
Previous experience with Oil & Gas and/or Renewable Energy sectors is desirable;
Experience managing a global, distributed team;
Strong planning and organizing abilities with excellent interpersonal skills;
A strong team player with the ability to work independently;
Exceptional oral and written English skills.
Education
A degree in environmental science, engineering, physics, or biology, preferably at the Master’s level.
