Today, Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth-Cove Harbour, on behalf of the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Accessibility, announced that GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc., based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, was awarded a $3,435,625-contract to provide replacement parts for hydrophone sonars currently being used on the Royal Canadian Navy's Victoria-class submarines.

The company was recently granted the rights by Lockheed Martin to produce parts for hydrophones, which are underwater microphones designed to detect subaquatic sounds.

This contract will support the Royal Canadian Navy's ability to effectively detect threats to Canada's coastal regions, while enhancing regional economic growth in Nova Scotia.

"Our government is committed to providing Canadian Armed Forces with the best equipment available to do their valuable work. This contract award is yet another example of our commitment to supporting their role in keeping Canada's waters safe, while contributing to sustainable and long-term employment."

"As stated in our defence policy, Strong, Secure, Engaged, our Government is committed to providing our submariners with the equipment they need to monitor Canadian waters and defend our interests while at sea. Through today's announcement, the intelligence and surveillance capabilities of our submarines will continue to improve in response to the complex maritime security environment."

The Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan

"Congratulations to GeoSpectrum Technologies a Dartmouth-based company manufacturing critical marine products for our brave women and men in uniform. This contract award underscores our government's commitment to supporting regional economic development across Canada, including right here at home in Nova Scotia."
